Ever take a chance and sign up for one of those adventure weekends where you don’t know anyone? You should try it sometime. I just spent the weekend in Asheville, NC with 8 strangers picked to live in a...no, no, no, this was actually the real world. I went on a yoga adventure retreat with the Charlotte Yoga Club. In a nutshell, we practiced yoga in the mornings and evenings, went whitewater rafting, hiked Looking Glass Mountain and painted the town red in downtown Asheville. I made some unforgettable friends along the way and the world shrunk around me when I met the manager of the beautiful B&B where we stayed. Turns out he’s from the neighboring town where I grew up in Jersey. His parents were regulars at the little Italian restaurant where I took my very first job. I love the unexpected encounters of life. It makes you realize how connected we all really are. One of the guys on the trip shares a birthday with me. The yoga instructor had the same healthy obsession with Michael Franti. My new hero has been to 54 countries and worked in most of them. Someone please let me know when a position like that opens up, in any field! I’ll make it work. The little detours along the way made the entire weekend an adventure. Meeting new people, taking unplanned turns and sharing your experiences with fun people truly makes life something worth living. Forget the mistakes you can’t change from the past, don’t hesitate for fear of what the future may hold and soak up what is happening right now, LIFE!
Namaste,
